Installation guidance
The aluminium spreader plates are positioned between or over the joists or battens, depending on the floor build-up. The 16mm pipe is pressed into the formed channels at 200mm centres. Insulation should be fitted beneath the plates to direct heat upwards; mineral wool is commonly used, although a suitable rigid insulation may also be specified.
The system should be pressure-tested before the floor covering is installed. Always follow the project design, applicable regulations and the floor-finish manufacturer's installation requirements.
Floor finishes
AD-PLATE can be used beneath tiles, engineered wood, suitable vinyl and carpet. The complete floor build-up—including any overlay boards, underlay and adhesives—must be suitable for underfloor heating. For carpeted floors, check the combined thermal resistance of the carpet and underlay.
Planning your system
Select the kit size that most closely matches the heated floor area. Allow for fixed units and other areas where pipework will not be installed, and have the system designed to suit the room heat losses, floor construction and chosen finish.
