Elektra Under Carpet and Vinyl Heating Mats 140W/m²

ELEKTRA FloorTec 140W/m² is a slim, foil-backed heating mat for use within the complete FloorTec system beneath approved roll carpet, sheet vinyl and linoleum. It brings comfortable warmth to rooms where a tiled floor is not the preferred finish.

The heating cable is fixed to fibreglass mesh and covered with an aluminium foil earth screen. This construction spreads heat across the floor while keeping the heating layer thin.

A complete floor system

The mat is the heating layer, rather than a complete ready-to-lay floor. For the dry-overlay installation, it works with insulation and FloorTec DUO boards to create a supported surface beneath the finished flooring, without wet screed.

1. Prepare a clean, level and suitable subfloor.
2. Install the specified vapour-control layers and 5mm XPS insulating underlay.
3. Lay the heating mats and position the floor sensor according to the installation manual.
4. Fit FloorTec DUO boards over the heating layer.
5. Install an approved floor covering, following its manufacturer's instructions.

The mat must not sit directly beneath carpet or vinyl. A compatible thermostat and floor sensor are required to control the system and respect the floor covering's temperature limits.

Choosing your floor finish and mat size

Check that your roll carpet, sheet vinyl or linoleum is suitable for electric underfloor heating before ordering. Karndean and Amtico plank floors require the recommended renovation-screed build-up in place of FloorTec DUO boards.

Measure the usable floor area and select the appropriate mat size. The 7m², 9m² and sizes above 10m² are supplied as two heating mats. The heating cable must not be cut or shortened; final connection and electrical testing must be completed by a qualified electrician.
