The Adept AD-CHIPBOARD is a complete water underfloor heating system built around foil-faced, pre-grooved structural chipboard panels.
The system combines 22mm P5 moisture-resistant tongue-and-groove panels, 12mm PERT heating pipe and an A-rated pump. Designed for installation at 150mm pipe centres, it can deliver up to 100W/m² and is supplied as a single heating zone. Kits cover clear heated areas from 12m² to 97m².

How is AD-CHIPBOARD installed?
Install the panels over joists positioned at a maximum of 600mm centres, with suitable insulation between the joists. Glue the tongue-and-groove edges to the adjoining panels and joists, then screw the panels securely to the joists. Press the 12mm heating pipe through the foil and into the preformed channels before pressure-testing the completed pipework.
Floor-finish requirements
Mechanically fix a minimum 6mm layer of flooring-grade plywood over the AD-CHIPBOARD panels before installing the final floor finish. This creates a stable sacrificial deck and helps protect the heating system during future floor replacement or renovation.
- Carpet, laminate and timber: install over the correctly prepared plywood layer in accordance with the floor-finish manufacturer's requirements.
- Tiles and vinyl: ensure the sub-deck is suitable for the selected finish. The required build-up may include thicker plywood, a tile-backer or cement board, or an approved skim layer.
- Compatibility: follow the requirements of the flooring, adhesive, levelling-compound and board manufacturers.
System planning
Confirm the room heat loss, joist layout, insulation, floor build-up and final floor finish before installation. Select the kit by the clear heated floor area and have the system connected, tested and commissioned by a suitably competent installer.
