AD-CLIP heating pipe secured to floor insulation with tacker clips before screeding

Water underfloor heating solution

AD-CLIP In-Screed Tacker Clip System

Water underfloor heating for new screeded floors, with flexible clip fixing for bends and irregular layouts.

AD-CLIP secures heating pipe to suitable rigid insulation with individual tacker clips. The pipe follows your planned layout, then the screed surrounds it to distribute heat beneath the finished floor.

Installation overview

How AD-CLIP Is Installed

Follow the project design and current installation guide. The main stages are:

  1. 1Confirm heat loss, flow temperature, manifold position, circuit lengths and screed specification.
  2. 2Prepare the base and fit the specified rigid insulation and perimeter edge insulation.
  3. 3Fit any membrane required by the floor specification.
  4. 4Mark out the designed pipe routes and spacing.
  5. 5Secure the pipe with compatible tacker clips, adding support at bends where needed.
  6. 6Connect, fill and pressure-test the circuits before screeding.
  7. 7Lay and cure the screed, then commission the system to the current instructions.

Choosing your fixing method

AD-CLIP or AD-RAIL?

Both systems hold heating pipe in place before screeding. Choose AD-CLIP when individual fixings make it easier to follow bends, obstacles or an irregular room layout. Compare AD-RAIL for regular rows guided by grip rails.

  • Place individual clips along the designed pipe route.
  • Add fixings at bends and returns where extra restraint is needed.
  • Use a compatible tacker tool to speed up repeated fixing.
  • Inspect the complete pipe layout before it is covered by screed.

Where AD-CLIP Works Best

Consider AD-CLIP when the project allows for insulation and a new screed, with enough height for the complete floor build-up.

  • New builds and extensions with a new screeded floor.
  • Major renovations where the floor is being rebuilt.
  • Suitable solid or beam-and-block floors.
  • Rooms with bends, obstacles or irregular pipe routes.

AD-CLIP project advice

Frequently Asked Questions

Clear answers about tacker clips, insulation, screed depths and planning an AD-CLIP installation.

What is the AD-CLIP system?

AD-CLIP is an in-screed warm-water underfloor heating system that uses individual tacker clips to secure 16mm PERT-AL-PERT pipe over suitable rigid insulation.

How is AD-CLIP different from AD-RAIL?

AD-CLIP uses individual tacker clips, making it easy to follow bends and irregular routes. AD-RAIL holds pipe in grip rails that guide regular rows. The heat output of either system depends on the heating design and complete floor build-up.

What pipe spacing is AD-CLIP designed around?

The current AD-CLIP kit specification is designed around 200mm pipe centres. The final circuit layout must follow the project heat-loss and hydraulic design.

What screed depth is required?

Current system guidance states typical minimum depths of 50mm for a suitable pumped screed or 65mm for a sand-and-cement screed. Confirm the actual depth and construction with the screed manufacturer and project designer.

View all AD-CLIP questions Show fewer questions
What insulation is used beneath AD-CLIP?

The system is normally installed over suitable rigid PIR insulation. The insulation thickness, compressive strength and clip compatibility must suit the complete floor design.

Is a tacker gun required?

A compatible tacker tool is the practical method for installing repeated clips efficiently. The clip and tool must match the pipe size, insulation and specified fixing system.

Can AD-CLIP form a multi-zone system?

Yes. Multiple circuits and room zones can be designed around a suitable manifold and compatible controls. The manifold size and zoning arrangement must be established before ordering.

How do I choose the correct AD-CLIP kit?

Start with the heated area, room layout, floor construction, heat source and number of zones. The design should confirm pipe quantities, circuit lengths, manifold ports and controls.
