Underfloor heating is becoming increasingly popular among new build homes and renovations. The luxurious feeling of stepping on warm floors bare foot is hard to beat, and with the energy efficiency benefits on offer makes underfloor heating the number one choice for heating homes in the UK.
The idea of installing underfloor heating previously was associated with causing a lot of disruption and headaches for homeowners, but this has been somewhat misleading as there are many solutions available that allows you to retrofit underfloor heating without causing major disruption.
What is Retrofit Underfloor Heating?
A great solution that we offer here at Uheat are what’s known as overlay systems which are extremely easy to install and connect to the heat source. The idea behind this system is that it can be installed over existing concrete or floorboards, making it a practical dry system and hassle-free solution. View our Overlay Systems Here
Essentially the overlay systems use panels made with materials such as high-density polystyrene, XPS, Gypsum or even chipboard. These boards sit on top of an existing floor surface which underfloor heating pipe then sits in, with the floor finish covering directly on top. These boards are easy to cut to size and provide pre-existing grooves where you simply press the pipe into, and the panels offer great insulation to provide you with an energy efficient heating system.
